After Slavery was abolished in 1865 many blacks move to the big cities to search for work. Several attempts of the government fight against segregation and discriminaion have no success. Martin Luther King and other black leaders are important names in the Civil Rights Movement, which cause the blacks more social and political rights. In 1964 with the Civil Rights Act, blacks become equality in all fields of the everyday lofe.Changes which can be pbserved in black peoples life today are for example the fact that blacks are widespread in all parts of the American society. Because of intermarriage between blacks an whites segregation and discrimination doesnt no longer exist. Furthermore the succsessof many African American s in politics, sports and entertainment sector leads to a better integration of them in social life. In contrast to the past segregation is abolished in public schools, playgroungs, restaurants, hotels and facilities. Although many blacks are nearly intergrated successfully, hidden discrimination is still a great problem. Blacks are underrepresented in politics. In addition to that the disparity between blacks in the middle class and blacks in the underclass. People who are from the underclass are dependet on the state. The final part of this text is about the high rate of unemployment of blacks as well as the social problems, which can not be solvet by American society.
