Hallo zusammen,

ich muss am Dienstag einen Enlgisch Vortrag über die Globale Erderwärmung (Gletscherschmelze und Trinkwasserknappheit) halten und weiß aber nicht so recht, ob das so stimmt.
Bin nicht wirklich sehr gut in Englisch.

Ich hoffe es kann mir jemand helfen :)

Effects of Global warming
-melting Glaciers & lowness of drinking water-

I tell you something about the effect of Global warming. For example melting Glaciers an lowness of drinking water. Since 1990 the Glaciermelt has risen and it won`t stop. For example the "Zugspitze". 120 years ago her area was about 300.000 square kilometres, now it`s only 50.000 square kilometres. That`s 1/6.
Glaciers are the most important reservoir of drinking water all over the world. 75% from our reservoir of drinking water are Glaciers. Today water will be run in valleys twice as fast as in the 1970 years.
The "Zugspitze" lost 110 million cubic metres water in the last 20 years. That´s so much as the consumption of drinking water from Munich in one year.
In the next 20 years the 5000 Glaciers in the alps will halve.
Up to now we don`t have a solution to replace the missing drinking water and to stop the Glaciermelt.



So, dass wars.
Sollte eigentlich 3 Minuten dauern, aber das werde ich nicht hinbekommen!
Egal, hauptsache der Text stimmt von der Grammatik :)

wenn du den Zugspitzgletscher meinst, dann schreibe es auch hin)

That`s 1/6. (ein Sechstel von was?)

will halve. ( schau im Wörterbuch mal nach, was "halbieren" = Verb heißt!

erstmal wollte ich mich für deine Hilfe bedanken!
Ich habe den Text nochmal mit deinen Tipps überarbeitet. Ich hoffe, dass er jetzt richtig ist.

"That´s so much ..." habe ich nachgelesen, das müsste so stimmen. Oder?
Und bei "will halve..." habe ich auch nachgelesen, dort stand, "to halve" also müsste es doch stimmen oder?


Ich schreib meinen überarbeiteten Text nochmal hier rein :) Und hoffe, dass ich wieder Hilfe bekomme :)

Könnte es vllt. auch so gehen?

Mit den Angaben über den Gletscher habe ich noch einmal nachgelesen.
Das waren 300 Hektar und heute sind es nur noch 25 Hektar.
1 Hektar = 10000 Quadratmeter

Ich hoffe mir kann geholfen werden :)

Glacier schreibt man nur groß, wenn es das Wort im Rahmen eines Eigennamens (oder am Satzanfang) auftaucht, also etwa Aletsch Glacier/Aletschgletscher.

Global schreibt man ebenfalls nur am Satzanfang oder in Eigennamen groß.

Global und warming sind zwei verschiedene Worte, dazwischen kommt also ein Leerzeichen.

as much as the consumption (Schau dir noch mal an, wie man vergleicht: http://www.englisch-hilfen.de/grammar/vergleich.htm)

Nein. Es ginge: That is the amount of blabla. Wenn du jetzt nicht ständig of-Phrasen haben willst, könntest du noch sagen: That is the amount of drinking water consumed in Munich in one year.

: das stimmt zwar, du verwendest im Text aber eine andere Einheit

to halve heißt (sich) halbieren, damit gibt es kein Problem.

That is as much water as the amount of drinking water needed in Munich per day (day, week, year,...?)
