rome und julia

for many years there has been a quarrel between two families of Verona, the Montagues and Capulets. the two damilies fight whenever they meet. The prince of Verona declares that any further fighting will be punished by death. Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet are the two children of the two feuding families. They meet and fall in love at a masked ball given by the Capulets. Juliet´s cousin, Tybalt, recognizes Romeo and is insulted by his presence; he swears to have revenge. that night Romeo steals into the Capulet´s garden. Standing below Juliet´s balcony, he hears her say she is in love with him. Althoudh well aware of the feud between the two families, they decide to marry in secret. The lovers pursuade a friendly priest, Frair lawrence, to marry them. Shortly after the wedding Tybalt meets Romeo on the streets and he challenges him. Romeo refuses to fight for Juliet´s sake. His friend Mercutio takes up the fight and is fattally wounded. Romeo is overcome with anger and kills Tybalt for revenge.

The prince decides not to scentence Romeo to death, instead he banishes him from verona. Before leaving Verona the next morning , Romeo secrely spends the night with Juliet. Meanwhile Capulet, who knows nothing about the marriage, arranges a wedding between Juliet and nobleman Paris. Juliet asks Friar Lawrence for help. He gives her a drug which will make her seem dead for two days. in that time her body will be taken to the family tomb, thus giving Romeo the Chance to returm to Verona and rescue her when she wakes up. So juliet takes the drug on the morning of the wedding with Paris. Friar Lawrence tries to contact Romeo, but he doesn´t reach him. Romeo only learns that Juliet is dead. Heartbroken he buys some poson and goes back to the tomb killing himself by Juliet´s side. Almost immediatly Juliet awakes expecting to find romeo. When she sees his dead body, she stabs herself with his dagger. the two families are reconciled by the death of their children.
