The presentation consists of a table and a simple line graph.
They are based on a calculation provided by the AMS/BMWA, but the graph and the table were made available by the APA.
The line graph illustrates the quota of unemployed persons in the years from 1984 to 2005 expressed in percent.
In the year of 1984 were about 3.2 percent of the Austrians unemployed. The unemployment soared gradually till it reached 4 percent in the year of ~ 1987. From this time on it decreased for about 2 years, but after this short downswing it was rising moderately till the unemployment reached 5.6 percent in the year of 1993. After another year of slowly declining, it rose again till 1998 and 5.9 percent. From 1998 to 2000 there was a steeply drop to a quota of 4.6 percent, but after this slowdown, the graph shows growth again till the year of 2005 and 6.2 percent.
The table shows the numbers of unemployed men in the year of 2004 and 2005 and unemployed women in the same period. 2004 about 100 091 women were out of work, in 2005 they were about 107 502, that is an increasing of 7 411 women in the period of only one year. The number of unemployed men rose from 106 623 in the year of 2004 to 111 775 in 2005, the increasing amounted to 5 152. At least the table shows the total number of unemployed people in 2004: 206 714 and in the year of 2005: 219 277. That is a complete growth of 12 563 people.
On the basis of the data it can be said that the rate of unemployment will rise so on.
