The mass media, including TV, radio, newspaper and also the internet have a big influence on people and especially on the youth. It plays an important role in shaping the opinions and positions (?) of the younger generation. There are various effects of mass media on the society in total. Media tends to influences everyone and it is obvious, that there are positive as well as negative influences.


As a start (?), the range of influence offered by mass media is phenomenal. It can target a global audience. This is a big advantage, because the media can reach nearly everybody in this world, either through a newspaper or the internet. Mass media can also be used for educational purposes. For example, you can watch educational documentations, or you can improve yourself through websites with informational value.

But there are also many negative effects in mass media. People can be easily influenced and manipulated by mass media because of the variety of information they present. Apart from that, people can get addicted to the use of various means of communication like social networks such as Facebook or Twitter. Moreover people can also become cyber victims, for example somebody can send hurtful text messages to others or spread rumors using cell phones or computers. Especially young people are affected in cyberbullying.
In addition there is also a lack of data security and people do not have any privacy because every click on the internet gets controlled.
However, TV, movies, Internet and the radio are some of the best forms of entertainment. People can use media around the clock. You can surf on the Internet 24 hours a day and download movies, books, and music.
Of course, this entertainment media has also a big disadvantage. Company uses the media for advertisings, which influence people a lot. For example advertising shows products, you do not really need, nevertheless you want to buy these products, only because a famous person advertises for them.

In conclusion, most new media such as the internet are very helpful. Because you can look up things much faster on the internet as you can it in books. Technology is always getting better, for this reason I think everybody, also the older generation, should use it more often.
