Essay Korrektur

Nowadays, there are different types of course grades that students get from their tutors. Grades that are based on exams or on class participation are the most common ones. In the following essay, I`m going to present reasons why I prefer grades that are resulted by exams.


Course grades based on class participation contain more flexibility which means that there is no time limit. For example, students do not have to give their answers in a certain time. If students present a wrong answer they have the opportunity to correct it immediately. For example, if they correct their answers on their own, students get less points instead of no points.

On the other hand course grades based on exams provide every student the same chance to prove their knowledge. For example, every student attends an exam under the same circumstances. Furthermore, there is a quite ? atmosphere that any distractions are avoided. It means students have a better chance to think during their exams. In addition to that, the tutor is able to find out the average level of the class. For example, if the teacher compares the students results he or she will get an idea how good or bad the class is.

In conclusion there are more reasons which show that course grades based on exams are better than grades based on class participation. In my opinion, it is not a fair way to give students course grades based on class participation. If students do not participate it will not mean that they do not know anything. It is often a result of their shyness. That is also one reason why I prefer course grades based on exams.
