The job is called stuntman.

At first, it’s a very dangerous job. Because of the danger there aren’t very many stuntmen.

This job has come into existence because most of the actors haven`t wanted to make dangerous stunts on their own. So they needed someone, who looked like them and was brave enough to do dangerous things.

The main challenge for a stuntman is to double an actor. But he doesn’t double him for the whole time only at dangerous stunts for example. It’s a very important job, because if there weren’t any stuntmen, there wouldn’t be much action in the films, but most of the stuntmen haven`t become famous.

In 1903 the demand for stuntmen began. The first stuntmen in the history of film was used in 1908 in the film "Der Graf" as they needed a very good swimmer for the end of the film. This stuntman was a very good acrobat. He was ready to jump off a cliff into the sea for five dollars.

Since 2001 the World Stunt Academy has annually awarded the World Stunt Award for special stuntmen.

There are also some schools for people who want to become a stuntman.
