Reproductive cloning


Pro:

-heterosexual couples with a completely sterile man can use adult DNA cloning to produce a child
-would allow lesbians to have a child without having to use donor sperm
-cloning of cells of an adult with desired talents might produce a child with similar potential
-unwanted character traits/genes can be substituted

Con:

-uncertain consequences => no guarantee that the first clones human can be "normal"
-violates GodŽs will/natural order of life
-would lead to dehumanization as humans would try to create perfect clones with no human mistakes
-would cause wrong understanding of children as objects that can be designed/manifactured to have specific qualities
-would limit individuality
-exploitation od clones

Therapeutic cloning

Pro:

-no danger of rejecting a transplanted organ
-no need for an organ donor and sometimes no surgery required for a second party
-intention is not to make whole humans ( clone human)
-recipient would not need to wait on a donor to die
-allows researchers to test for possible cure treatments of existing diseases
-enable scientists to study the regeneration of organs
-stem cells have the potential to repair

Con:

-destruction of embryos => killing of an human being
-inefficiency of the method
-no sufficient supply of eggs
