The article "Obama kündigt Abschiebestop für Millionen Einwanderer an" published on the website "ZEIT ONLINE" on 21.11.2014 is about Barack Obama`s plans concerning immigration.
Obama wants to stop the deportation of illegal immigrants.
In his opinion only criminals have to be deported. The immigration system in the US is destroyed and everybody knows it. Because of that he wants to create a fair system. His plans affect about half of the illegal immigrants in the US. Apart from criminals and new illegal immigrants people should not be deported and especially parents of US citizen should be able to stay and work legally. Barack Obama thinks that the Mexican border should be improved and that it would be better to control legal immigration by giving visas to highly qualified persons. Although the Republicans criticize him, Obama has the aim to strengthen the rights of illegal immigrants.
