Host Family Letter Au Pair

Hallo,
hier ist mein Host family Letter für meine Au pair Bewerbung.
Ich würde mich riesig freuen, wenn sich jemand die zeit nimmt, um das zu lesen und mir seine Meinung und Verbesserungsvorschläge mitteilen könnte.

Dear Host Family,
My name is x, I am x years old and I come from x a small town near Cologne.
I am living together with my mother, my stepfather and my brothers in a big house with garden. My mother x () studied pedagogics and is a bookseller but at the moment she stays at home till my little brother is old enough to go to Kindergarten. My stepfather x lives with us. My father x () is a computer scientist and lives near our house so that my brothers and me can visit him very often.
I have three little brothers called x (), x () and x () and a small half-brother called x (). We get along well with each other most of the time. Of course sometimes there are disputes but I think that is just normal between siblings.
I love my whole family and I am really happy about their support for my wish to become an Au Pair.
Since we all love animals in our house also live our Jack Russel Fanny, the two cats Heinz and Ernst who are very cuddly and two guinea pigs. My horse Trixi lives in a stable near our house.

Now that I am finished school I have more time and I help a lot in the household. For example I help my mother to cook and to bake, I hoover, clean up and do the dishes.
Furthermore I often babysit my two youngest brothers x and x.
I play a lot with x for example we build houses with Lego, play with cars and cuddly toys, listen to music together because he loves to dance, I read out books for him or we go to the playground to swing, to play on the slide and to climb on the climbing frame. When my mother has an appointment I stay at home with x and I dress him, change his nappies and prepare snacks for him.
I often play football with x although I am not very good at football, I help him with his homework, read out bedtime stories for him and sometimes I give riding lessons to him.
I also give riding lessons to my cousin x () when she visits us during the holidays.

During the next summer holidays I will do volunteering at the “Lebenshilfe”. That is an organisation which offers seminars and workshops to families and disabled people. My job will be to help the disabled people and to take care of the children. I am really looking forward to this because I am sure it will be a great experience.

There are many reasons for me to be an Au Pair in England after that. I would like to take care of children because I love being with them, become a part of your family and the new big sister of your children, meet new friends from the whole world and not at last to improve my English knowledge.
To be an Au Pair is a big dream of me since a while but at first I could not decide to which country I want to go. Then I was on a class trip to London last year and I immediately felt in love with the city, the whole country and the people living there. I met many very friendly and open-minded people in London and I experienced that most English are more polite than the people in Germany and I really liked that. So I am really looking forward to get to know new people, the English culture and holidays and your everyday life as a family.

Now I would like to tell you something about my experiences with children apart from my brothers.
In January 2013 I did a placement at a children`s home in a group of five children at the age of six to ten for three weeks. I picked them up from kindergarten and school, helped them with their homework and read out for them. Furthermore we ate together, played games, did handicrafts, sledged and went shopping together to the bakery or the supermarket. I really enjoyed the time with the kids and I was sad when the placement ended because I took the children to my heart during this short time and I kind of miss them. But I also think it was a great experience to see how children live in a children`s home and get to know the children who all don`t have a great past bat still love their live.

Furthermore I do babysitting for our previous neighbours since three years approximately once a month when they are invited to a party or want to do something without the children in the evening. The two kids x () and x () meanwhile became like my little brother and sister and I really love them. Usually we eat together, watch a movie and then I read out a bedtime story for them and put them to bed. Sometimes I also babysit them when they don`t have school and their parents have to work. Then we eat breakfast together and go for a ride with our horses. But I also visit them when I don`t have to babysit them just because I love to spend time with them.

For giving you a first impression of me I want to start telling you something about me and my personality.
My friends describe me as a friendly, helpful, reliable, responsible and caring person.
In my free time, I love to be in the horse stable, tend my horse Trixi, train with her or go for a ride with my friends. I love my horse like my best friend and I think I will miss her a lot
but I am sure that the stable owner and my family will take care of her. I think horseback riding is a great hobby because working with horses taught me a lot. I learned to take on responsibility for a someone and even to go outside to feed the horses when it is raining, very cold or when I don`t feel well. I learned to be empathetic, to be patient, to be reliable and to be considerate of my horse and of children who cannot ride very well yet and also to help them when they need help.
With my friends I love going to the cinema or a party, going shopping or just relaxing and talking to them. My other hobbies are listen to music, go for a walk with our dog, read a good book and write stories myself because I like the idea to create a new different world with my words.
Until lately I played the treble, alto and tenor recorder but stopped it because I had not enough time anymore.

I do not have passed my driver`s license yet because I had not enough time for that too but I will do it this summer.

My favourite subjects in school were English and Spanish but the most interesting subject was definitive pedagogics. I just made my Abitur (diploma from German secondary school qualifying for university admission or matriculation) and I don`t know yet exactly what I will do after my Au Pair Year but I think it will be something with pedagogics.

I hope that I am the right person to take care of your children and that we have a wonderful year together with many beautiful memories.
