Frage: Speech Analysis bitte korrigieren!(3 Antworten)
Hallo, könnte mir bitte jemand diese Analyse korrigieren? :) In his speech the Prime Minister uses several means to convince the listeners of his view on globalisation. First of all Tony Blair`s speech is well structured and divided into different sense units which help the audience to follow and understand his reasoning. After that he describes that globalisation also leads to global challenges and enumerates some examples. Furthermore he mentions requirements which are necessary for a successful world and to solve conflicts (ll. 24-32). In the next sense unit the Prime Minister appeals to the audience to act and also gives solution approaches how to deal with the challenges of globalisation. To give importance to his argumentation he connects it with examples again. Tony Blair highlights the negative consequences and loss of “failure” (l.39) but also shows the advantages of acting appropriate. Moreover he emphasizes the national interest of a successful globalisation (l. 49). Another mean to convince the audience is his use of antitheses and contrasts in his argumentation. For example he contrasts the past (“Thirty years ago..”; ll. 1-3) with today`s situation to clarify the development. In addition the antithesis how globalisation was imposed (ll. 15-17) emphasizes this process. Moreover the language in this speech helps to convey Tony Blair`s message. He does not use complex sentences and as a result his oration is easy to understand. There a many short sentences and even some who just contain one word (e.g.“Why?” (l.11), “Wrong” (l.17)). In addition he does not make use of technical terms which also supports the understanding. Instead of that he formulates well-known expressions, e.g. the biblical quote “We will reap what we sow” (l.53) to make the speech more vivid. Besides that the speaker employs many words and expressions which are connected with negative associations to highlight the importance of acting and to underline the negative consequences. For example “millions of the world`s poorest (l.44), “world of injustice and abject deprivation amongst the poor” (l.52 f) or “moral indifference” (l.45). In addition the speaker uses several rhetorical devices to support his argumentation. To involve the listeners Tony Blair makes use of the first-person plural (“we”, “our”, “us”). With sentences like “So let us act” (l. 56) he speaks directly to the audience. He also uses informal language (e.g. “Well, it was certainly the most relaxed part of the week” (l.9 f)) to create a personal relationship which helps the audience to identify with the speaker and his view. Another rhetorical device is the enumeration “Jordan, Egypt, Indonesia” (l.25) which emphasizes the fact the terrorism is a huge problem and challenge of our time. There is also an enumeration of the negative consequences which highlights the loss for the nation (l.50 f). Furthermore the anaphora “It is” (l.17 f) emphasizes the description what globalisation is and produces a lasting image. A second anaphora with this effect is “Calculate” (l. 50) which also helps the listeners to remember his statement. Moreover there are some repetitions in the oration to stress important aspects. For example “terrorism” (l. 24, 48) or the appeal to “act” (l. 33, 53, 56) are mentioned several times. “We will reap what we sow” (l. 53) is a metaphor to illustrate the connection between acting and the effects on globalisation. Wäre es nicht notwendig, auch die angesprochenen Punkte in der Rede etwas konkreter zu nennen? Du bleibst sehr allgemein in deinen Aussagen.. In his speech the Prime Minister uses several means to convince the listeners of his view on globalisation. First of all Tony Blair`s speech is well structured and divided into different sections which help the audience to follow and understand his reasoning. After that he describes that globalisation also leads to global challenges and enumerates some examples. Furthermore he mentions requirements which are necessary for a successful world (?) and to solve conflicts (ll. 24-32).
