„Cat in the Rain“ Ernest Hemingway

The short story “Cat in the Rain” was written by Ernest Hemingway. It is about an American couple that spends their holiday in an Italian hotel. It rains and the woman sees a cat in the rain. She wants to protect her from the rain. When she goes out, the Maid protects her with an umbrella from the rain. She wants to look after the cat. After returning to the hotel room, she starts a conversation with her husband, who is reading all the time, telling him how much she wants to have a cat or other things, for instance her own silver to eat. Her husband is not interested in that. At the end of the story somebody knocks on the door. The maid stands there with the cat and gives it to the woman.
