Ich soll ein Inhaltsangabe ( Summary ) schreiben. Kann mir jemand helfen. Vielen Dank!

a world language
About 350 million people in the world today speak English as their first or native language.
Another 300 million use it as a second or official language in over 60 countries. There are a number of reasons why English is so essential for these people; either because their own language is not widly spoken, or because so many official languages are spoken in their own country and no one can speak all of them. People also need English when they are doing business abroad or with foreign firms.
Have you ever thought, however, whtat might have happened if a 15-years-old Polish schoolboy´s had come over true? English might had not developed into a world language and perhaps Esperanto would have become a world language instead.
10 In 1974 Ludwig Zamenhof thought up the idea for an international language. It was later given the name "Esperanto", the "one who hopes". He wanted people throughout the world to speak Esperanto. As as secound language. He hoped, in this way, that people from different countries would understand each other better and that this could help to create peace in the world.
In 1889 the first international Esperanto conference was held. It was attended by 700 people from 20 different countries. A book of the subject aslo appeared in the same year. The language is easy for Europeans to learn as many of the words and roots come from the European languages. The grammar is also quite simple and regular. No one is excatly sure how many people speak the language today. Some people claim that there are as many as million Esperanto speakers world-wide. Other reports say that less than a million people speak it. More than 30,000 books have, however, been written in Esperanto. The Polish schoolboy´s dream has not come true. Esperanto has not become an official world language and probably never will. The reason for this? Many people were still are against the use of the artificial language. The want English to remain the number one of international language.

gruss!
