September 11 - correction

The September 11 attacks were a series of four coordinated suicide attacks upon the United States in New York City and the Washington, D.C. areas on September 11, 2001. On that Tuesday morning, 19 terrorists from the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger jets.

American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 were flown by the hijackers in to the North and South towers of the World Trade Center complex in New York City; both towers collapsed within two hours. The crashs lead that debris fell onto or initiated fires in several surrounding buildings causing to the partial or complete collapse of all the other buildings in the complex. The other planes like American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon in Alrington, Virginia and United Airlines Flight 93 were intended to strike into the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C – but it crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks, including all 227 civilians and 19 hijackers aboard the four planes.

The Pentagon
There are various conspiracy theories, the US. administration decided not to shoot down a coming plane that was heading for the Pentagon, and others claim that the Pentagon was not destroyed by a plane.
People like Thierry Meyssan (political activist) and Dylan Avery (filmmaker) contend that American Airlines Flight 77 did not crash ino the Pentagon. They are convinced that the Pentagon was hit by a missile launched by elements from inside the U.S government. Reopen911.org says that the holes in the Pentagon walls were far too small to have been made by a Boeing 757: "How does a plane 125ft. wide and 155ft. long fit into a hole which is only 60ft. across?"

There are many researchers contradict some conspiracy theories. Jim Hoffman rejects the claim of a missile`s hitting the Pentagon in his essay „The Pentagon Attack: What the Physical Evidence Shows“, for example. The evidence refuting missile claims includes airplane debris including Flight 77`s black boxes,the nose cone, landing gear, an airplane tire, and an intact cockpit seat were observed at the crash site. The remains of passengers from the Flight 77 were found near the Pentagon crash site. Furthermore, eyewtinessess saw that the Pentagon was hit by a plane and passengers like Renee May called their mother to tell her that the plane had been hijacked.
