The range of logistics businesses the express operators are moving into is huge.
One service offered by UPS`s local branches is a drop-off facility for broken Toshiba laptops. Most owners think that when they have told Toshiba about their problem and put their laptop into a UPS box, it is sent to the Japanese company to be repaired and then returned by UPS. But what really happens is that when the laptop arrives at UPS`s Louisville hub, it is taken to a vast estate of warehouses near the airport and mended in a repair shop owned and run not by Toshiba but by UPS. The UPS technicians are trained by Toshiba and the warehouse holds Toshiba spare parts. Even the people in the Toshiba call-centre that deal with inquiries work for UPS. The delivery company has been contracted to provide a complete repair and customer-service operation. And having done this for one company, UPS could capitalise on its investment by providing a similar service for others.

Meine Aufgabe ist: Put the information into a general global context and comment on this development.

Kann mir jemand die Frage übersetzten und erklären was ich machen muss? Weil ich kann Englisch fast überhaupt nicht und weiß nicht was mit "global context" gemeint ist und comment on this development im bezug auf den text.

ja was bedeutet jetzt "globaler kontext" und welche entwicklung kommentieren?

Hm, na in dem Text geht es doch darum, dass ein Logistik-Unternehmen die Reparatur übernimmt (bzw. einen Laden bezahlt, in dem das getan wird) und damit sich (und dem Technikunternehmen) den Transport schenkt. Am Ende, so wird hier zumindest nahegelegt, könnte UPS das immer so machen, dass sie kaputte Geräte nicht zum Hersteller schicken, sondern in dessen Auftrag reparieren lassen. Das ist die Entwicklung.
"Globaler Kontext" ist natürlich ein weiter Begriff, da bin ich auch gerade etwas phantasielos. Was hattet ihr denn letztens so?

Ab dem Absatz mit "Supply-chain" bis zu diesem Absatz den ich vorgegeben habe, war ein ausgedruckter Text.
Vlt hat es damit was zu tun. Bitte hilf mir, weil ich bin soo schlecht in englisch. Mir würde schon ausreichen, wenn du mir auf deutsch sagen könntest was ich schreiben soll.

Ok, das heißt, dein eigentliches Problem ist, dass du den Text nicht verstehst? Fehlen dir Vokabeln?

generell nicht. ich will einfach nur wissen, was mit diesem "global context" gemeint ist, und was mit diesem Kommentar der Entwicklung gemeint ist. Kannst du mir nicht einfach sagen, was ich schreiben soll? :-)

Im Moment habe ich leider nicht die Zeit, den ganzen Text zu lesen, der scheint mir aber vollgepackt mit Informationen über Entwicklungen in der Logistik-Branche. Mit globalem Kontext scheint dann tatsächlich weltweit gemeint zu sein.
