Korrekturlesen(Englisch) zum Thema Aids
Frage: Korrekturlesen(Englisch) zum Thema Aids(keine Antwort)
African Americans are the ethnic group most affected by HIV and Aids. In some cities the rates of HIV and Aids among blacks are even as high as in some countries in Africa. Aids- Acquired immune deficiency syndrome is a collection of symptoms and infections resulting from the specific damage to the immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The late stage of the condition leaves individuals weakened to opportunistic infections and tumours. HIV is transmitted through direct contact of the bloodstream with a bodily fluid containing HIV, such as blood. The majority of HIV infections are acquired through unprotected sexual relations between partners, one of whom has HIV Other causes are the injection drug use, blood transfusion, the exchange between mother and baby during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding. HIV is originated in the Saharan Africa during the twentieth century. Many experts believe that HIV probably moved from Africa to Haiti and then entered the United States around 1969. It is now a pandemic, with 33.2 million people now living with this disease world-wide. Most experts believe that HIV probably transferred to humans as a result of direct contact with primates, like chimpanzees. (Nach heutigem Wissensstand)AIDS has killed more than 25 million people since it was recognized. This makes it to one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history. The symptoms of AIDS are primarily the result of conditions that do not normally develop in individuals with healthy immune systems. Most of these conditions are infections caused by bacteria, viruses and parasites that are normally controlled by the elements of the immune system that HIV damages. Opportunistic infections are common in people with AIDS. HIV affects nearly every organ system. People with AIDS also have an increased risk of developing various cancers. Additionally, people with AIDS often have systemic symptoms of infection like fevers, sweats, weakness, and weight loss. After the diagnosis of AIDS is made, the current average survival time with therapy is estimated to be more than 5 years. Without antiretroviral therapy, death normally occurs within a year. Most patients die from opportunistic infections associated with the progressive failure of the immune system. There is currently no vaccine or cure for HIV or AIDS. The only known methods of prevention are based on avoiding exposure to the virus. The risk of HIV infection is prevalent, especially among the poverty stricken persons, denial and discrimination, partners at risk and other sexually transmitted disease connection. |
