Hallo ,

kann mir jemand sagen, ob dieser Text in Ordnung ist ? Ich soll die Stellung des Autors analysieren .

The second half of the article can be divided into two parts. The first part  ( ll. 99-125) deals with the adoption of a new reform for recruiting workers mainly for tabacco plants in Jamestown.
The next part (ll125-150) deals with the first attack of native Americans on settlers and the `second starving time` .

The author`s opinion is shown on the basis of several stylistic devices.
The first example is " Jamestown was the place to find a cash cow and an economic system of exploiting it"(l. 99) , and shows the luck of the settlers who got rich with the export of a species of tabacco which was not theirs
but of their neighbour people. So the author underlines their idea to trade with it and their politics which allowed intentured servancy that bound workers to labor for 7 years which helped them to become very successfull but also " foolish , fierce and stubborn " (ll59) in that "businness proposition" (l.38).

The second example is " our original sin was not very original"(ll.100-101) and shows that the author tries to improve the Americans reputation, which is known whith its exploitation of blacks and slaves , and is a diversion from Americas blame in the past .

The third and last example is the description of the government with" the need to keep ...in line led to Jamestowns most far reaching innovation , representative government "(ll130-133) and sounds if the government was not the ambition of the reformers and its development was luck again . Moreover the adjectives before " government " underline that there was nothing more that affected the present than it . The adjectives are very positive but later they lose their beauty and the description continues with the fact that the government and its assembly is unnesseccary and unhelpful for the democratic development .

To sum up , the author has a neutral attitude towards Jamestown importance for America because of happenings after its settlement and the consequences for America today .

 Ich habe zwar versucht , alles in einen Satz zu fassen , deshalb hab ich bestimmt diese Sachverhalte nicht wirklich gut einbringen können :/

1. Der Autor versucht den schlechten Ruf der Amerikaner zu verbessern , da diese in der Welt als Ausbeuter bekann sind. Somit versucht er zu zeigen ,dass man die Schuld nicht nur ihnen geben sollte.

2.die Formulierung hört sich so an , als hätten die Reformer gar nicht danach gestrebt eine solche Regierung zu formen , sondern es ist einfach dazu gekommen . also es ging diesen gar nicht um die Demokratie und Rechte..

3.bei government meine ich die Beschreibung " most far- reaching" , da dieses sich sehr positiv und fortschrittlich anhört und den Amerikanischen Leser evtll. stolz machen kann / soll .

Wie soll ich das in Worte fassen ?
