I am going to present toyou a brief/short look at the life of Richard Milhous Nixon, the 37th US president

He was born in Yorba Linda, California in 1913 and died in New York City in 1994. His parents , Francis Anthony and Hannah Milhous Nixon , were Quakers, which is a religious community.

The most important task which President Nixon faced was to find a solution for the Vietnam War. He sent [---] American troops to Vietnam[b] and at the same time he expanded the war [b]into the neighbouring countries, Cambodia and Laos.
Despite the detachment of hundreds of thousands of American soldiers the war could not be won so Nixon [--]negotiated a ceasefire with North Vietnam which enabled the troops to leave the country in 1973 More than 50 000 US soldiers died in this war.(1).

His foreign policy was directed by the German born Henry Kissinger, it was largely successful. In 1972 he visited the People´s Republic of China; as he played table tennis with the Chinese Prime Minister his policy was later called "ping pong policy";, his visit to the Soviet Union was the first visit of an American president after the Cuba crisis of 1962.
He thus opened diplomatic relations between the two nations and the USA.

Moreover he furthered and founded a lot of public projects like the Foundation of the Environmental Protection Agency. He also founded the initative „War on Cancer“, whose aim is to find a healing for cancer. Therefore he passed the bill, called „the National Cancer Act“. These became the most important home policy actions of his term.

The „Nixon-Doctrine“ was published in 1972. It said that the US expected of their military federates that in case of war they primarily had to rely on their own forces. The USA would just offer technical support by sending weapons; troops ewere to be sent in case of emergency
..
