Chicago lies in the U.S. state of Illinois. It has more than 2.8 million inhabitants and is the third biggest city in the U.S.A..
The city lies beside Lake Michigan and spreads 47 kilometres along this lake. The rivers ‘Chicago River’ and ‘Calumet River’ are flowing through Chicago.

Because of the airport of O’Hare, which people wanted to make larger, the whole city divided in 77 Community Areas. The downtown is formed of Chicago Loop and Near North Side, two of the Community Areas.

In a year the climate shows that the coldest month is average January with -3,3°C and the hottest average 24,3°C. The whole average of a year is 10,5°C. There are hot summers and also cold winters. The highest temperature was 41°C on July, 1995. The lowest temperature was -33°C on January, 1985.
Yearly the precipitation average is 860 millimetres. On August are the highest precipitations and on Feburary the lowest. In 1978/79 felt the most snow with 228 centimetres.
