John Kerry

Life and career:
Everybody of you knows that the Election Day in America is coming. There are two candidates, George W. Bush and john Kerry. Now I want to present john Kerry’s life and political career.
John Kerry was born on December 11, 1943 at Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Colorado. His father, Richard Kerry, volunteered in the army air corps and was a test pilot during World War II. His mother, Rosemary, was a lifelong community activist and devoted parent. After john Kerry was born, his family moved to Massachusetts. His parents taught him the values of service and responsibility and the blessings of his Catholic faith, lessons John Kerry carries with him to this day.
As he was graduating from Yale, John Kerry volunteered to serve in Vietnam. His leadership, courage, and sacrifice earned him a Silver Star, a Bronze Star with Combat V, and three Purple Hearts. But John Kerry's wartime experience taught him a painful lesson that he could not forget, even after he returned home. He had seen the lives of his fellow soldiers, his friends, put at risk because some leaders in Washington were making bad decisions. He decided he still had a responsibility to serve his friends, the friends he had lost. So he decided to become active as a Vietnam Veteran Against the War (VVAW). He became a spokesman for VVAW and later co-founded Vietnam Veterans of America. Later, John Kerry accepted another tour of duty - to serve in America's communities. After graduating from Boston College Law School in 1976, John Kerry went to work as a top prosecutor in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. John Kerry was elected Lieutenant Governor in 1982. Two years later, he was elected to the United States Senate, he defeated Republican Raymond Shamie with 55 percent to 45 percent. Kerry was re-elected in 1990, by defeating Jim Rappaport with 57 percent to 43 percent. In 1996 he won against the popular William Weld with 52 percent to 45 percent.Then in 2002 Kerry Libertarian candidate Michael Cloud challenged Kerry, but he won with 80 percent to 18 percent. He is now serving his fourth term, after winning again in 2002

Programme of DNC:
John Kerry is running to make America stronger at home and more respected in the world. He will stand up for the values that have always made America great: faith and family, strength and service, responsibility and opportunity for all. They have a plan to create good-paying jobs at home and keep them here. They want to let families get ahead in an America where the middle class is growing, not being squeezed. He is fighting to make health care a right for all Americans. Kerry has a plan to make this nation independent from Middle East oil and he believes that America must modernize and improve America's military to defeat global terrorism, and lead a new era of alliances.
Above all, as father, John Kerry learned how important it is for a family to have health care and for children to have a good education. He also believes that American family's health care is just as important as any politician's in Washington DC!
