Why is it necessary to exercise caution when using the media?

The media are means of communication of people.
There are e.g. the newspaper, television, internet, books, pamphlets, radio and so on, which provide the people with lots of extensive information. First of all I think that the existence of media is a positive acquisition (Errungenschaft) for (of) mankind. The dealing with media is a condition ( Voraussetzung) and a matter of course (Selbstverständlichkeit) in professional and private life.
But I think it is important to believe not in everything, they report about. Often they give a lot of wrong information, only to have an extraordinary story. Take for example the case of Britney Spears. At the time she has a difficult and hard life and lives in a drying-out centre (Entzugsanstalt). The media like television and gossip columns disseminate some rumours, why she is there, but partly (teilweise) this are lies and speculations. Sometimes not only are the information incomplete they are also very subjective. Above all teenager and children are very (beeinflussbar) by media. Especial violent computer plays and videos can become dangerous, because some teenager can not difference between unreal and real world. That proves the amok of Erfurt, where a young man (19 years old) shouted down 16 teacher, pupil and officer, an other example is the amok of Emsdetten, where an ex-pupil wanted to kill some persons. Both of them have played violent computer plays and lived in their own world.
An other danger is the publicity of political or religious formations, they can influence the people very fast. Mostly they promise a lot of things but they do not keep to them.
Other problems are soaps for little children, for instance “die Teletobbies”. It is proved that such a programme is responsible for becoming stupid.
After my opinion media are very important but it is necessary to take care.
