The United States Midterm elections 2010, which decide the balance of power in Congress, were held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010.

The Congress is the legislative of the United States of America, consisting of the Senate and the House of Representatives. In the Senate there’re 100 senators! (Each U.S. state is represented by two senators) and 435 members of the House of Representation.
The midterm elections of 2010 brought a wave of new politicians into power. The House of Representatives, which has held a large Democratic majority over the past 4 years, is now solidly Republican.
The Republicans have won control of the U.S. House of Representatives with 242 seats vs. 193 seats (of the Democrats) - The Democrats, however, have hold control of the Senate – but with only a slim majority after losing six seats. (Democrats: 53/100 seats, Republicans 47/100)
I think that there were various structural factors that affected the election for example that Americans had a negative perception of the economy. Another reason would be that Barack Obama, the president of the USA, didn’t keep one’s promise and a lot of Americans are very displeased with Obama.
But what does this result mean for the White House and than of course for Barack Obama? What are the consequences?
With Republicans back in control of the House of Representatives, a new power structure will emerge over the next few weeks.
To begin with, it means that the Republicans will now be in control of the House of Representatives under Democratic President Barack Obama. This also means that the Speaker of the House will also be a Republican, a position last held by Nancy Pelosi. Having lost control of the House, the president will now have to work closely with Republicans as he tries to push through legislation.

...which decided on the balance of power...
there’re - sowas gibts nicht, es heißt `there are`
Das Ausrufezeichen in dem Satz ist total überflüssig. Pack die Information in Klammern in Gedankenstriche und fang `each` mit einem Kleinbuchstaben an.
House of Representatives/House of Representation... wie heißt es denn nun?
The Republicans won control...
have held, nicht hold
affected the election, for example that the Americans
didn’t keep his promises
But what does this result mean for the White House and thus for ...
To begin with, it means that the Republicans will now be in control of the House of Representatives: Das steckt inhaltlich schon im vorherigen Satz.
speaker
work closely with the Republicans
