Facts about Los Angeles
L.A.
is a city in the US Federal State California.
It is located at the Pacific ocean and the Los Angeles River.
L.A. has 4 million inhabitants and it`s the second largest city in the USA after New York
All in all the region of Los Angeles extends over a length of nearly 100 kilometers and a width of 50 to 100 kilometers


Beaches
Los Angeles is known for its beautiful beaches, which leads me to my first topic: Venicebeach and Santa Monica
Venice Beach is especially known for the boardwalk. That`s a promenade where musicans, painters and artists meet every weekend and in the summer months daily for entertaining the people.
At night Venice Beach turns into a dangerous place because of many gang activities and drug dealers. That`s why police tries to prevent nightly residence. Santa Monica is in the north of Venice and the oldest, largest and most pupular seaside resort of the city. There live many script-writers and rockstars.
On the Santa Monica Pier is also the Pacific park, which is opened in beautiful weather.

Kodak Theatre

Another famous attraction is the Kodak Theatre.
It was built particularly for the OSCAR award and opened 2001. The buiding was paid by the Kodak company.
There have also been played musicals, beauty competitions and some Emmy Awards. In addition most of the final shows of the Castingshow American Idol took place in Kodak Theatre. And even Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama discussed there in the preselection fight for the president of the United States of America, which has been broadcasted all over the USA. The Theater is arranged in front of the famous Walk of Fame, what leads me to my next topic the Walk of Fame.

Walk of Fame

It is a sidewalk in Los Angeles and extends over 18 blocks to both sides of the Hollywood boulevard.
Currently, you find 2,408 stars and cartoon characters which are honoured by a named star on this walk.

Hollywood

Hollywood is known world-wide as focus of the US-American film industry, though its name often stands as synonym for the entire industry. Over the city in the Hollywood Hills is the well-known Hollywood Sign which was established 1923 as „Hollywoodland “, in order to sale premises.

Staples Center

A further attraction in L.A., is the Staples center. There is mainly played basketball. The building of the Staples center was privately financed and the costs were about $375 million US Dollar. The Staples center was opend in October 17th 1999 and was awarded with the Arena of the Year Award. On July 7th 2009 took the funeral service of the deceased King of Pop Michael Jackson place.
