The film, “Angela’ Ashes, directed by Allan Parker, is a story which is based on facts. It is the film version of the corresponded? autobiography by the Irishman Frank McCourt, in which he tells his experiences of his youth and about how his family has tried to escape....poverty.


The film is set in New York, where the Irish family McCourt lives. It is told from ....Frankie`s view ....the oldest son of the family, who lives in poverty and adversity. After the death of their fifth child they return home, where they find the situation even worse. The Northern Irish ancestry of the father makes his search for anemployment difficult. The twins even die. Frankie’s father loses one job after the other and takes all the family’s money to alcohol. He decides to go to England for work and promises to send his wages, but he never does so and also never returns. The McCourt family losestheir home and they have to move to Angela’s cousin, who treats them like slaves and Angela even gets sexually abused byhim.(1) Frankie moves to his uncle and starts working at the post office after he has finished ....school. He dreams about emigrating to America and also fulfils his dream.

The film is easy narrated, so it is for the audience easy to follow the events. The actors and actresses play their roles very well, so that you could put yourself in ...their positions. Especially the role of Angela McCourt, who is played by Emily Watson and the role of Frankie, ....who was played by three actors, once byJoe Breen, when he was young, then, by Claran Owens, in his middle-age and byMichael Legge, when he was older, are very well played. The film is very well directed and has beena great success. It also disposes the audience to commiseration. (2)

I think the film really appeals to many people, because it is not only a fictive film, it is based .....on facts. It shows the adversity of the people, which is not disproportionate unusual (3); no there are many families in such situations. ... the background of the film is very well shown, too , the Northern-Ireland-Conflict, which also looms large nowadays (vgl. 3)Another thing I find very well done(4) is the backdrop, which was perfectly equipped and adaptedto all events. .... My recommendation for the film is to show how the family lived before they went to New York, to show ...how Angela’s family was against the marriage between Angela and Malachy (dieser Name fällt hier zum ersten Male?!), but all in all the film captivates its audience.


1) von wem? Bezugswort zu "him" fehlt
2) weglassen; "dispose" ist sowieso falsch; der Satz wirkt wie "rausgehauen", beziehungslos /gewollt/unpassend an dieser Stelle.
3) typ. "Wörterbuchwort"; mag zwar passen, entspricht aber nicht dem sonstigen Sprachstil/der Sporachebene des Textes; besser hier: "ununsual"
"looms" ... ganzen gekennzeichneten Satz einfach weglassen; trägt eh` nicht zum Erkenntnisgewinn der Summary bei.
4) es gibt andere Vokabeln außer nur "good/well"; wie wäre es mit _ fasczinating, impressive, fantastic, interesting , well donezumindest dieses!
