Comment about Radio and TV from XXXXXXXXXX

Many people see Television as a great entertainment medium and use it as a pastime.
But what happens to the beloved radio from grandmother? In the past it was something special and now the radio is only a background noise.
Steve Allen says that “radio is the theater of the mind,[and] Television is the theater of the mindless”, but is TV just the theater of the mindless is TV only for those who have no imagination, is TV a entertainment medium that is only for stupid or primordial people? Because of this in the following I am going to analyze if the statement of Steve Allen is a suitable one.
On the on hand, experts say that hearing radio is good for the imagination, because the listener must create his own movie in his head. And because of that they get a better overview about different topics.
Secondly, due to the fact that the listener must create his own picture with the help of his imagination, the auditor can keep the story or fact better in mind. On account of this the heard stays longer in memory. This has also a brain exercising effect.
Last but not least, the television pretends the picture that the spectator has in mind and because of that the audience in front of the television cannot create their own pictures.
On the other hand, the television offers a lot of different perspectives. The radio listener has only his own imagination, his own picture of a space shuttle. The television viewer gets presented a lot of different pictures of a space shuttle, because each producer shows his own imagination.
Another point is that the television spectator also creates his own theater of mind. Because of the fact that movie producers create purposeful gaps in the film, the viewer can create his own background story. Or the producers make an open end, so that the people in front of the television can invent an own end.
The main fact, however, is that in the radio is the problem that you cannot illustrate difficult knowledge, so people can misunderstand something. And due to the fact that in science you cannot fabricate you own ideas, because science is based on facts, television is the better way to demonstrate facts better or point out details better.
All in all, I can understand the thoughts of Steve Allen and also think that radio is the theater of the mind, but I also think that you can create your theater of mind with television. In my opinion the television is the better medium to demonstrate knowledge and the radio is the better one to tell stories.
