Marriage and Family
Nelson wedded three times. From the first two marriages he has got six childiren.
He divorced from his first wife at 1957 from his second wife at 1996.
On his 80 Birthday he married the widow Graca Machel, who was once married
with Samora Machel the former president of Mozambique and supporter of ANC.
He lost two sons. The first one died because of a car accident and the second one
had got Aids.

Early Life:

His father lost most of his possessions (cattle and land)
He had to leave with his mother
grew up in Mvezo Qunu, a village well in the near Umtata
With seven years Mandela was the first family member who went to school
His father died in 1927
Nelson first attended (besuchte) a mission school located not far away
He then attended the Clarkebury boarding institutions
Received (erhielt) his first degree (Abschluss) after only two instead of the usual three years
At 19 he moved to Fort Beaufort and attended Wesleyan College
In a boycott against the policies of the university and was therefore relegated (verwiesen) by the university
He went to Johannesburg, where he graduated from the University of South Africa via distance learning to a close
Then he began juristic studies at Witwatersrand University
